Winter Calm Croyde-Original Gouache Painting

Mid morning walk in the gently warming sunshine on Croyde beach looking across to the mist slowly burning off over Saunton Down and Downend, sun rays illumining the wisps as if they were steam from a hot bath.

In the shadows you were sharply reminded that it was still the middle of January, with its raw Winter chill, but out of the shade and sheltered from the light offshore breeze you could definitely feel some warmth in the sun.

Flecks of highlights caught the rooftops of the small cluster of buildings as well as the path down to the beach and the road snaking up out of the village.

A morning full of calm and stillness.
